QTR Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Estate 2018

An incredibly layered, full-bodied crowd pleaser from a couple of Napa Valley’s most talented personalities. Not shy on the nose, it opens with a gorgeous floral nose of rose petals and violets, followed by intensely delicious notes on the palate of irresistible black cherries, red currant, raspberry coulis, mocha, exotic vanilla and a touch of graphite, with bold, silky tannins that resonate on the opulent, lengthy finish. Enjoy now (after decanting) through 2029.

QTR Estate Winery

The land on which QTR is located, was formed during the last 1.6 million years and sits on an un-named and inactive fault. The western portion of the fault is underlain by Pliocene-age sedimentary deposits which are sandy, silty, and made up of volcanic gravel. The eastern portion of our site is made up of older Jurassic and Cretaceous-age sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks of the Francisco Assemblage. At some point in its history, there was a deep bedrock landslide creating debris that is now our top and subsurface soils. This debris is largely composed of disrupted claystone bedrock with cobbles and boulders of volcanic matter up to 24” in diameter.

Our vineyards are located on the lower elevations of Howell Mountain spanning 850 to 1230 feet and benefits from afternoon sun exposure and cool evening breezes. Five clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and one clone of Chenin Blanc were selected specifically for our soils. The vineyards were planted in multiple small blocks which allows us to harvest and vinify them separately.

QTR Estate is sustainably farmed and maintained to ensure it will endure for generations.
