This new boutique Cabernet from the most coveted source in America is immensely satisfying! Similar to other top tier Cabernet from Napa’s acclaimed 2018 vintage, this release boasts a cashmere-like texture and depth of glorious flavors tightly packed now and promising to age gracefully for at least a decade. This new discovery reminds me of some of winemaker Melka’s finest craftsmanship for Vineyard 29 and, prior to that, Hundred Acre! A bouquet of violets and chocolate covered espresso beans lead to flavors of blueberry and exotic baking spices on the mid palate. Then, copious quantities of semi-sweet cocoa, black currants, black cherries, cedar and vanillin dazzle convincing me this is one of the undiscovered superstars of the vintage! 98 points now (decanting recommended prior to 2022) and 99 with a few years of cellar time.
