The East Block Cabernet Franc has emerged as one of Napa Valley’s great trophies, and with good reason. Tom Detert proudly has more of his coveted plot of the original To-Kalon planted to Cabernet Franc than to Sauvignon. The wine itself is massive, and unmistakably To-Kalon in fruit character. There’s loads of dark berry and midnight-dark chocolate flavors with an added dimension of exotic herbs and leather. Lots of structure and texture to get lost in before getting carried away by the long finish. A wine that would be more legendary if there were enough made to attract more notice. Highly recommended.
