Pilcrow Cabernet Sauvignon Ghost Block Vineyard 2018

A true sensation of a Cabernet with instant ‘cult’ appeal. Shows the richness and concentration you want in a great Napa Cab from this vineyard so famous, but also a structure that lifts it above the soft, mushy wines that are so prevalent. There’s real tannin and lively architecture framing the opulent blackberry, black currant, marzipan, pencil lead and cedar flavors, and the finish is dry and seemingly endless. Every sip offers something different as it evolves in the glass with cherry, plum, currant, sage, cocoa powder, blackberry, vanilla, charcoal and toasted marshmallow emerging. A world-class wine that defines elegance, power and complexity. Should age effortlessly for at least a decade. Drink now-2038.

Pilcrow Winery

"We fell in love with the Napa Valley over two decades ago. And, much to the dismay of the cynical, we haven't gotten jaded. We have seen our joy and adoration of this valley and its characters deepen and become enriched over the years. We find inspiration in the valley's past and the wines made by the icons of the 50s, 60s and 70s like Lee Stewart, Nathan Fay, Bob Travers, Bob Sessions, Al Brounstein, and so many more.

"And so, Pilcrow was brought forth in 2014 with our first harvest and it quickly became clear to us that it was destined to be more than merely a wine. Pilcrow became our promise to the world to celebrate the humanity of craftsmanship. To treasure the past. To take things slowly. To be a little bit analog.

"It is through Pilcrow that we demonstrate our love of quiet wines that value grace and thoughtfulness and that amplify terroir. It is through Pilcrow that we ply the fine-wine ambition that drives us and makes the clear expression of terroir an absolute and an ideal. By looking for, caring for, and safeguarding the differentiating characteristics of each vineyard we stay alert, as vintners, to the exceptional possibilities of each wine."
