The 2005 vintage is deliciously dense and full-bodied featuring lavish quantities of sweet, jammy black fruit, all of which are complemented by a plethora of enticing notes of caramel and vanilla from almost three years of new American oak maturation. Lush, opulent, and voluptuous, with an exotic, flamboyant personality, this wine is so well-balanced and loaded with deep, dark fruit it should impress longtime Napa collectors tonight (after decanting half an hour) and age gracefully for another 7 – 10 years, peaking in 2016 in our estimate. 95 – 96 (March, 2011)
