Boars’ View Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2016

What a joy to re-taste this gorgeous Pinot now that it has benefitted from just a few years of cellar time! The fragrant bouquet fragrant reminds us of strolling through a red rose garden. The  velvety rich texture leads to dark berries, black plum, pomegranate, and fig jam all perfectly woven together. Just approaching its prime drinking window, this gem displays hints of favorite Marcassin vintages as with warm Christmas spices, exotic spices (unique to this region) and an ethereal finish. This gem is entering its prime drinking window now and should continue to impress anytime through 2027+. Brief decanting recommended prior to 2024.

Boars' View Winery

Fred and Carol Schrader have long shared a passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and
dreamed of starting a project that would focus on these varietals. Their interest in Pinot
Noir and Chardonnay spans the globe as they enjoy the uniqueness of wines from the
great Domaines in Burgundy to the incredibly rich, fruit forward, abundant wines
coming from California’s ‘True’ Sonoma Coast.

In 2007, Carol and Fred found an excellent undeveloped property in the prime Cazadero
region of the Sonoma Coast that had yet to be planted to grapes, but had the perfect
layout for doing so. Two ridgelines in from the Pacific Ocean, where wild boars roam the
land, the property is ideally situated above the fog belt of the coast atop a gentle sloping
cornice that enjoys optimal sun exposure. In addition, the vineyard is comprised
primarily of Goldridge Loam which is perfectly suited to Pinot Noir. From their first
visit, the Schraders knew that the property was magical, and truly one of a kind. They,
along with their friends David and Judy Steiner, took ownership of the land and
immediately began to develop the vineyard. And thus, Boars’ View Vineyards was born.
