Duckhorn Discussion Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Simply stated, this is the foremost Cabernet blend we’ve tasted in our last two decades judging Buckhorn wines. The 2012 Discussion structure and flavor profile reminds us of preeminent vintages of Insignia or Dominus and should age comparably. Elephantine in stature, this profoundly rich wine must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, and cassis. The panoply of flavors (cocoa, nuts, creme de cassis, and black truffles) unfold seductively across the palate. Ultra-velvety tannins and vanilla oak create a supple framework to support notes of currant, spice box, cedar, plum and pipe tobacco that culminate in a finish that lasts for upwards of 40 seconds. This is majestic effort right out of the shoot (enjoy tonight after decanting!) and will continue to evolve in the cellar for at least a decade. Superb!
